Welcome to this weeks newsletter. Thanks to all those parents who attended the 3 Way Conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon / evening. We had a pleasing turnout with 85% of families attending. It was a pleasure seeing children explaining their work to parents and I have spoken to a number of parents who were very happy with what they heard and saw. Well done children, you are certainly developing those skills needed to explain what you are good at and what your next steps are.
At assembly last week the following children received awards: Harry Willcocks, Alyssa Bosher, Jackson Mendoza, Harrison Jones, Perenara Stewart, Kaleb Openshaw-Coutts, Trenton Hill, Ronin Coppins, Noah Garwood, Jessica Alexander, Troyden Hardcastle, Jackson Jones, Aden Sadler, Emma McNaughton, Caley McCulloch, Kaleb Windleburn, Logan Bartley, Ollie Turner, Ashleigh Palmer, Yvette Battershill, Eden Faint-James, Thomas Hardy, Luke McCarten, Brooke Dixon, Brianna Klaui, Tauriri Wairau, Paige Auckett, Jacinda Mendoza, Mikayla Leighton and Jordan Kokko.

UNIHOC & FLIPPERBALL
By now those kids who are in a school Unihoc or Flippaball team would have bought home notices including a newsletter and rules of the game they are to play. Also, all subs would have been paid to the school office - $35 for Unihoc and $33 for Flippaball The first Unihoc game is on Monday 9th August and the first Flippaball game is Tuesday 10th August. They are both grading games. The draw for this game will be sent to school, Heather Clegg, and your team managers by mid NEXT week. Your child will get a hard copy of it also, through the school. It is very important that you contact your team manager to give them your contact details, if you haven’t already done so. This is especially true for New Stars Unihoc (manager Karen Sadler, ph 526 7339), Blacksticks Unihoc (manager Debbi Coppins, ph 526 4969) and Dolphins Flipperball (manager Heather Clegg, ph 516 3500) teams.
If anyone has any questions, please contact Heather 526 3500.

TOTARA PARK SCHOOL
Computer/Laptop Rules
The teachers are becoming increasingly concerned about the damage to computers. We ask that you take time to share the School Rules with your child at home to ensure their continued access to computers/laptops at school.
These are the important rules I must follow:
1. School Computers are to help me with classroom learning. They are not for play.
2. It is important to keep safe while using the Internet and e-mail. This means I must follow the school’s safety rules.
3. The only time I can use the Internet and e-mail at school is when an adult is supervising me.
4. I am not allowed to try and look up things on the Internet which I know are not for children.
5. I must be sensible when using the Internet and other communication technologies. I know that I must not do anything that would hurt me or someone else, even as a joke.
I agree that:
I will take care of our computers:
I will take care of the any equipment or furniture.
I will only use the computer for the task I have been asked to complete.
I will only use the sites that my teacher tells me I am able to use.
I will not copy any software.
I will ask for permission from the teacher before printing anything.
I will use memory sticks only to back up work or to take work home/back to school.
I will not make any changes to the settings on the computer.
I will be considerate of other users:
I will share equipment
I will not deliberately disrupt the computer or the school’s network.
I will not be involved in electronic vandalism, like viruses.
I understand that if I break these rules I may lose the right to use the Internet and computers at school. As well, the school may tell my parent/caregiver and may also take disciplinary action against me.
