TPS Junior Playground Totara Tree

Our Classrooms and School Grounds

We are fortunate to have 13 colourful and warm classrooms that are modern and can be opened up to create flexible learning spaces.  All classrooms have digital technology including Chromebooks and IPads that our students use in their daily learning.

The school offers a large playing field, netball and basketball courts, an artificial cricket wicket and nets, as well as extensive concrete areas for games and physical education lessons.  Our junior playground is situated under the shade of our large totara trees near our office and staff room.  Our senior playground is next to our school field and is designed to be a fitness circuit to challenge our older students in climbing, balance, strength and agility.

Scooter and Bike Parking

We recommend that only our Maunga (Year 5 and 6) students are allowed to ride their bicycles or scooters to school unsupervised.  It is compulsory for all cyclists (and this includes kids on scooters), regardless of their year, to wear helmets when cycling or scootering to school.

For all information on road safety, please refer to the NZ Police website.

School Library and Mobile Library

We have a very well-resourced library containing well over 3,500 books.  All classes visit the school library once a week and it is open at lunch time for our students who wish to change their books or who would like a quiet place to read.  We ask that library books be taken home in a book bag to avoid them becoming damaged.

The Upper Hutt Mobile Library visits our school every fortnight to encourage our students to read.  Our students can return their Upper Hutt Library books onboard the Mobile Library and borrow new titles.  If your would like to join the Upper Hutt Library, please visit their website to fill out an online form.

Parking and Visitors

The school carpark is for staff parking only.

There is plenty of roadside parking along California Drive and a free parking lot across the school.

All visitors to the school during school hours MUST report to the office and register themselves.  This is for the Health and Safety of our students and for our visitors.

Before and After School Care

Youthtown operates onsite in our school hall to offer before and after school care for our families.  They have a Breakfast Club (from 7.00 a.m. to

8.30 a.m.) and after school care (from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.).

Other local providers do a daily pick-up and drop-off at our back gate.
