Our Tamariki

P.A.R.K. Values

Our P.A.R.K. values are the core of our school culture.

They are modelled, explored and consistently encouraged.

Porihanga- I join in.

Aroha- I show love.

Rangatiratanga- I have pride.

Kaitiakitanga- I look after.

Our Learning Journey

Our tamariki are divided into 3 pods and this is their kōrero (story).

Year 1 and 2

As you start your 6 years of learning journey in Tōtara Park School, across rocky shores, through fiords and onto golden sand and land, you are introduced to lots of new and exciting things.  These are the years where you will develop your building blocks, learn to participate and contribute, manage yourself and learn to relate to others.

Year 3 and 4

Just like how the New Zealand native forest is filled with diverse, rich and abundant native flora, these are the years where you will develop your key competencies and new skills in addition to those you learnt in Takutai.  You will learn about perseverance, determination and independence, while continuing to better your self-management.

Year 5 and 6

Just like how our native alpine flora must adapt to living in our mountains, you will discover how you will adapt to meet the challenges of being a senior student while adhering to our P.A.R.K. values.  You will extend those key competencies you discovered in Ngahere and Takutai, and learn about responsibility, risk-taking and collaboration before ending your 6 years of school learning journey

Our Year 6 Students

Our Year 6 students are offered a range of opportunities that comes with the responsibilities of being the senior leaders of our students.  Some of these roles include:

  • others.
